Welcome to Year 2! Mrs Haworth is the class teacher, and is ably supported by Mrs Green and Mrs Howard.
We aim to create a fun, challenging classroom environment that allows children to shine and excel. Children are encouraged to become resilient, independent learners who develop a passion for their education.
Reading is an essential area of your child’s learning which can improve all areas of the curriculum. We aim to develop the children into becoming confident and independent readers and follow the Accelerated Reader scheme. We encourage the children to read every night and children complete a computerised quiz after finishing their book to check their comprehension. Books will be changed once a child has quizzed and they will be able to choose their next book from the library. We encourage parents and guardians to ask the children lots of question about the book they are reading to develop their comprehension skills
Spellings and times table
Spellings will be sent out via a paper copy and email at the beginning of each half term. Spelling tests will always take place on a Friday . We encourage lots of practice at home and the children will be given opportunities to practice within school time. Later in the term the children will be challenged with a times table quiz. In Year 2, we will be focusing on our 2, 3, 5 and 10 times table and we encourage children to practice at home.
P.E is on a Monday and a Tuesday afternoon, led by Mr O’Brien and Mrs Pound.
Please ensure that your child’s clothes are labelled clearly to avoid any getting misplaced.
Earrings are not allowed in line with our school uniform policy.
See below for our half term overview.
