It is Spring term and the children will continue with their learning about the Iron Age and the impact it had on the lives of people of the time.
We will also look at the local area around school. Children will identify places on a map and look at the land use of the local area. We will discuss why land is used in the way it is.
The children will develop their use of ICT learning how to carry out tasks in a word processing package as well as saving into specific folders and retrieving their work. We will also be using these skills in other subjects.
We will be looking at famous artists and focusing on the work of Paul Klee. The children will create their own image using his style.
Children will take part in guided reading daily. We will work on comprehension skills during guided reading, the children will be asked questions about a text they have read.
Children will have the opportunity to read in school, please send your child’s reading book into school every day. Reading not only improves a child’s reading skills be also supports their writing. The more a child reads the more ideas they have for their own writing and the more aware of punctuation they become enabling them to use it correctly.
Children will bring home spellings each week on a Monday. Children will work on learning the spellings in school during the week and the spellings will be tested usually on a Friday. Extra support learning at home would be appreciated.
